Susan Kliewer is honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the City of Sedona

SUSAN KLIEWER, beloved Sedona artist known for her heartfelt sculptures of so many moments from the history of the American West, is being honored by the City of Sedona's Arts and Culture Program with their LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD.

On November 2nd, 6-8pm, at Mary D. Fisher Theatre, the City of Sedona (sedonaaz.gov) will present the Mayor's Arts Awards to Susan Kliewer and the other 3 category recipients in recognition of the exceptional artists and cultural organizations that have generously made "a substantial impact on our vibrant arts community," as announced by Sedona's Arts and Culture Specialist Nancy Lattanzi, NLattanzi@SedonaAZ.gov.

On 1st Friday, November1st, 4-7pm, before Saturday's Awards Ceremony, Mountain Trails Gallery Sedona in the beautiful Village of Tlaquepaque will host a reception and retrospective exhibition featuring many of Susan Kliewer's iconic sculptures, including "Maria" and "Julian" which are desktop sizes of her monument being installed as part of the City of Sedona's Roundabout Project. Mountain Trails Gallery Sedona has served as Susan Kliewer's home base for her sculpture and continues to exhibit this remarkable artist's work.

This talented artist is a native of Southern California, but has made Arizona her home for fifty years. She spent five of those years at Marble Canyon Trading Post in a remote area of Northern Arizona, adjacent to the Navajo Reservation. A painter since the age of ten, Susan turned to sculpting in 1987, after working in an art casting foundry for ten years.

Susan Kliewer has been celebrated for more than 40 years in Sedona as a prominent sculptor with monuments throughout the City of Sedona, and throughout the American West, including Europe. An outstanding sculpture garden is home to fourteen, two-thirds life sized sculptures depicting a Navajo family settlement, installed in the Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens and Sculpture Park on Kauai, Hawaii. In addition to her monuments, Susan Kliewer's paintings and sculptures can be found in collections all over the United States and Europe.
